4 Easy Tricks to Re-energize Your Business for the New Year

With winter looming and below freezing temperatures engulfing parts of the US, it’s easy to fall into a business slump. On top of that, the holidays can steal the focus away from your business. But now that the New Year is almost here, it’s time to give your business some TLC. Unfortunately, it’s not always easy to find the motivation to recommit yourself to your company.

To help you start the New Year ready to go, go, go, check out these four tricks for getting inspired, motivated, and re-energized.

Spruce up your website

Ringing in the New Year with a newly spruced up website could be just what you need to breathe some life into your business. You don’t even have to go all out and change everything. Throw up some new images and maybe add some updated copy. If you’re feeling extra ambitious, incorporate new information. A pricing guide or customer testimonials will draw new customers in and provide them with relevant information.

Learn a new skill

The beginning of the year is the perfect time to learn something new, whether it’s a new technique relevant to your industry or a business skill that will help things run more smoothly. There are plenty of places that offer classes for small business owners. Here are a few to check out:

A nearby community college- Most community colleges offer classes that are open to the public. There’s no need to enroll in the school, just sign up and pay for a single class. They usually offer everything from basic computer skills to business finance courses.

Your local library- Libraries are great places to learn new skills at little to no cost. In addition to having books about pretty much everything, a lot of public libraries host short classes and seminars taught by local experts.

Online courses- There are tons of sites with online courses where you can learn a plethora of skills. Code Academy and Lynda.com are well-reviewed sites to try that provide tons of course options. But before you plug in your credit card number, make sure the company is legitimate. Check out reviews and do a little research. It’ll prevent you from getting scammed.

Meet like-minded people

Surrounding yourself with good company that has similar goals will motivate you to work hard. Aren’t sure where to find these people? There are a few places that make networking easy. Meetup.com can help you find groups to get together with. They plan meet-ups for like-minded people to get the chance to mingle and chat. Tradeshows can also be great places to network and have a little fun. Last but not least, join groups on Facebook. You might not be able to hang out face-to-face, but getting together virtually is the next best thing!

Set a new goal

New Years is all about resolutions. Set a distinct, ambitious (but obtainable) business goal to work towards. Don’t just stop at picking a goal; plan how you will accomplish it. Figure out the first steps and get to it! Having a goal and target to aim for is the best way to light a fire under your business.

Break out of your business slump and make 2017 a great year. With these four tricks you’ll be energized and successful in no time at all.
